Nikos Boudouris returns to PAOK as the club’s new general manager

Nikos Boudouris, who played successfully for PAOK for nine years, has officially returned to the club to take on a key administrative role

Newsroom December 5 05:03

PAOK’s basketball department announced that Boudouris—one of the most emblematic figures in the team’s history—has been appointed as the new General Manager of the organization.

The club welcomed him with the statement:
“Νikos Boudouris, one of the most iconic figures in our history, returns to PAOK—where he grew up as a player—and takes on the responsibilities of General Manager. Nikos, welcome back home.”

Boudouris will work closely with Vaggelis Margaritis (Assistant GM) and Michalis Giannakidis (Team Manager).

Career Highlights

Born on September 25, 1971, in Volos, Boudouris began his career with Olympiakos Volou. On July 30, 1989, he signed his first contract with PAOK and went on to win four major titles with the club:

  • European Cup Winners’ Cup (1991)
  • Greek Championship (1992)
  • Korac Cup (1994)
  • Greek Cup (1995)

He also competed in two additional European finals (1992, 1996) and reached the Final Four of the Champions Cup in 1993.

After leaving PAOK in 1998, he continued his successful career at Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, Makedonikos, Marousi, and Olympiada Patras, before retiring in 2008.

He holds the all-time record for most appearances in the Greek top division (A1) with 574 games, and ranks second in appearances for PAOK specifically, surpassed only by Vaggelis Margaritis.

In 2000, he won the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos, becoming the first Greek player to capture all three European titles of that era (Champions Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup, and Korac Cup).

With the Greek national team, he earned 102 caps, finishing fourth at the World Championships in both 1994 and 1998, and competing in EuroBasket 1997 and 1999.

After retiring, he worked in youth development programs at Vrilissia and Olympiakos Volou, and also served as PAOK’s Technical Director and Olympiakos’ Team Manager.

Boudouris’ First Statement

Upon his return, Boudouris stated:

“I received an honorable proposal from the club and accepted it with joy. I’m happy to be back at PAOK, the team where I began at a very young age. Although I continued my career elsewhere, the nine years I spent here were the most important for me. They left a deep mark.

There is now a completely new dynamic at PAOK—unprecedented, I would say. It is the first time someone of Mr. Mystakidis’ financial stature and dedication to the club has come forward with the intention of truly changing long-standing conditions.

We must manage this new situation in the best possible way. We respect the work already being done by the coaches, players, and staff, while also upgrading daily operations and the team’s overall structure. Our goal is clear: to see PAOK return to prominence in Greece and Europe, step by step.
