Kimberly Guilfoyle at the Pentagon – Will meet with Dendias

The US Ambassador has pledged during her Senate hearing to accelerate the upgrade of Greece's defence equipment with the assistance of the US

Newsroom November 13 01:28

A meeting between Greece’s Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, and the new U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is scheduled to take place today at 2:30 p.m. at the Pentagon, as part of the ambassador’s introductory meetings following her assumption of duties.

During her confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Ms. Guilfoyle emphasized the need to further deepen Greek–American defense cooperation. She highlighted that Greece ranks among the top NATO members in defense spending, and pledged to work toward accelerating the modernization of the country’s defense capabilities with U.S. support.

In that context, Ms. Guilfoyle referred to major ongoing or planned acquisitions of U.S. defense systems—including F-35 fighter jets and Apache and Black Hawk helicopters—and underscored the strategic significance of the joint Constellation-class frigate co-production project.

It is also worth noting that Ambassador Guilfoyle had communicated with Mr. Dendias via text message shortly after her appointment was announced, following the Greek Defense Minister’s visit to Washington in early 2025.
