J.D. Vance: US considering Tomahawk missile launches in Ukraine

The US vice president said that Trump will make the final decision

Newsroom September 29 12:19

Washington is considering Kiev‘s request to acquire long-range Tomahawk missiles in Ukraine’s war against Russia, US Vice President Vance said today.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the US to sell Tomahawk missiles to European countries, which the latter will send to Ukraine.

Vance told Fox News Sunday that US President Donald Trump will make the “final decision” on whether to give the green light to the deal.

“We are certainly looking at some requests from the Europeans,” Vance said.

The Tomahawk missiles have a range of 2,500 km and would be a powerful asset in Ukraine’s arsenal as it fights back against a constant barrage of Russian missiles and non-drone attacks.

Such a weapons delivery would almost certainly be seen by Russia as an escalation of its war in Ukraine.

In the past, Trump has rejected Ukraine’s requests to use long-range missiles, but the US president says he is frustrated by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s refusal to reach a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine.

Vance also said the Russian invasion of Ukraine is at a standstill, with few territorial gains recently.
