Trump signed a decree declaring the “Antifa” movement a terrorist organisation

The White House had announced its intention to crack down on domestic terrorism on the left in the wake of Kirk's assassination

Newsroom September 23 05:01

U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday Monday designating a terrorist organization the far-left movement Antifa, on the day after the memorial service in Arizona for the assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Last week, the White House had announced its intention to crack down on what it called “domestic terrorism” on the left in the wake of Kirk’s assassination, which shocked the US.

Hardliners at the blockades put obstacles to dialogue with Mitsotakis – “We do not operate with ultimatums,” the government responds

“The problem of violence comes from the left. That’s why Donald Trump just labeled Antifa, a network of radical left-wing terrorists who aim to overthrow the government through violence (…) as a domestic terrorist organization,” the White House said in a statement. In the executive order made public, Antifa is also described as an “anarchist” organization.

Tyler Robinson, 22, the suspect arrested and charged in the murder of Charlie Kirk, is a far left in ideology, as he allegedly told relatives that the victim was spreading “hate” and engraved “anti-fascist” messages on shell casings.

Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking at an event at a Utah university on September 10. An emblematic figure of the right-wing MAGA (“Make America Great Again”) movement, Kirk was praising President Trump’s political views to his millions of followers on social media sites and at university events, encouraging and promoting dialogue with students and youth from the opposite side of the political spectrum. He was of the opinion that only through the exchange of arguments can there be understanding and progress.
