France: Eurostar train services cancelled due to power supply system failure

Delays reached up to two hours – The incident occurred between Moussy and Longueau in northern France, leading to the cancellation of 16 services

Newsroom August 4 04:19

More than 16 Eurostar train services were cancelled today, and rail traffic was disrupted with delays of up to 1 hour and 50 minutes due to a problem with the power supply system.

Teams were dispatched on site to identify and repair the issue, according to SNCF Réseau, which told Agence France-Presse it was a “problem with the overhead contact line.”

The disruption occurred between the towns of Moussy and Longueau in northern France.

At least 16 Eurostar trains operating routes between Paris and London, Brussels, and Amsterdam were cancelled by 7:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. Greek time). Two trains, one on the Paris–Brussels route and one on the Brussels–Paris route, which had departed earlier in the day, returned to their original stations, the French-British railway company confirmed.

SNCF teams have set up alternative routes.

As of midday, SNCF Réseau was unable to provide an estimate for how long the disruptions would last.
