Trump announced a joint interview with Musk in the Oval Office: “Elon is amazing!”

Yesterday, the White House thanked Musk for his service, after announcing that he had finished his mission to reduce government spending

Newsroom May 30 08:35

U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday he will hold a news conference with Elon Musk, marking the completion of the billionaire businessman’s formal partnership with the U.S. government.

The conference will take place in the Oval Office at 8:30 p.m. ET, Trump said via the Truth Social platform.

“This will be his last day, but not really, because he will always be with us, helping throughout,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “Elon is amazing!”

Yesterday, the White House thanked Musk for his service after the multi-billionaire announced he had finished his mission to reduce government spending in Donald Trump’s administration.

We thank him for his work. We thank him for introducing DOGE (the name of his Commission on Government Efficiency), and efforts to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse will continue,” White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told reporters.

Cabinet members in President Donald Trump’s administration will work with staff at the Department of Government Efficiency in various federal agencies to advance ongoing efforts, the spokeswoman said.

Cabinet secretaries “are working closely with Elon Musk and will continue to work with their respective DOGE civilian appointees across those agencies,” the White House press secretary said.

The spokeswoman declined to comment further on the departure of the billionaire businessman, who first criticized his great ally, Donald Trump, this week. Musk said Wednesday that he was done with his mission to reduce government spending after four months of unprecedented experimentation.

“As my planned term as a special government employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for allowing me to reduce wasteful spending,” the businessman wrote on his own social media platform, X.

“The ‘DOGE’ mission will be further enhanced in the future to become a way of life in government,” said the chairman of Tesla, SpaceX, and Platform X.
