Two Turkish nationals have been taken into police custody in connection with yesterday’s shooting in Thermi, Thessaloniki (updated)

Three individuals in a grey jeep with foreign plates stopped and fired at the vehicle carrying the NIS officers

Newsroom May 28 08:59

The serious incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Tuesday at a gas station. Three Turkish nationals arrived in a silver jeep to refuel. Meanwhile, EYP officers had stopped nearby in a vehicle and a motorcycle. Upon recognizing the officers, the Turkish driver approached their vehicle, pulled out a gun, and opened fire. Fortunately, the officers managed to escape unharmed, and the attacker quickly fled the scene in his vehicle, which disappeared from sight. The shooting took place outside the gas station, and by miracle, no civilians or officers were injured.

Authorities are investigating the event as a particularly serious escalation by the Turkish mafia, which has been linked to over ten murders in Greece since September 2023

Executives of the National Intelligence Service were the men who were shot at in their car by Turkish mobsters on Tuesday afternoon in Thermi, Thessaloniki.
