Lipsi tops the list of emerging adventure travel destinations in Greece

According to the popular niche blog Jonny Melon, the island offers numerous nature trails, picturesque churches, and beaches with turquoise waters

Newsroom March 31 01:24

Lipsi has claimed the top spot among Greek destinations suited for alternative activities for the British travel audience, according to the popular specialized travel blog Jonny Melon.

Following in the ranking are the Western Cyclades, Athens, Santorini, the Saronic Gulf, and Meteora.

As stated in the extensive feature on Calypso’s island, “Lipsi offers an exciting escape in Greece, with numerous nature trails, picturesque churches, beaches with turquoise waters, and exotic islets.”

During the same period, Lipsi was also listed among the top ten Greek islands for sailing excursions, as announced by the professional website deyachting.net. Referred to as a “small island with a big heart,” this hidden corner of the Dodecanese is spotlighted in the feature.

“Lipsi has a dedicated following of nature and adventure lovers from abroad that continues to grow. Italy, the UK, France, and Germany are just some of the markets that in recent years have shown increasing interest in visiting the island outside of peak season for alternative activities. As part of our effort, we invite influencers and opinion leaders to convey the uniqueness of our destination to niche-interest audiences,” emphasized the Mayor of Lipsi, Fotis Mangos.

It’s worth noting that 2024 was another record-breaking year for ferry arrivals to Lipsi. A previous record had been set in 2023, while in 2022 the island surpassed its 2019 benchmark for ferry traffic, marking a 25% increase in visitors compared to 2021.
