The Corfu MP candidate Angela Gerekou made an attempt to clarify the reasons that made her join the right party of New Democracy.

As a guest to the Mega channel TV news explained that she replied positively to Mr. Samaras proposition, “since following the split of PASOK she would either stay at home or join a party that she felt that through its dynamics they could join forces to contribute. ”

She admitted that she tried to convince Giorgos Papandreou not to proceed with the new party, however after the split “I would have acted as a referee between the Venizelos supporters and the Papandreou supporters”.

“In hard times and times of need, we must follow the voice of responsibility and leave

our personal feelings aside”, she stressed.

While referring to the criticism by PASOK and Mr. Venizelos, Ms Gerekou said that: “”I can not explain or justify the reactions. But there are others who know me well and know what my purpose is. “
