Tempi: A passenger who survived the crash testified and provided information about the ignition issue, says Psaropoulos

The lawyer had a meeting with the Appellate Investigator conducting the inquiry into the Tempi tragedy

Newsroom March 7 02:08

In a statement to journalists, lawyer Antonis Psaropoulos, who is the father of Marthi Psaropoulou, who lost her life in the tragic night, spoke about his meeting this morning with the Appellate Investigator leading the investigation into the deadly train crash in Tempi.

Psaropoulos, the former husband of Maria Karystianou, mentioned that “there is a wait for reports, such as the one from the NTUA regarding silicone oils or any other opinion they may issue.”

He also shared that “a witness who was a passenger in the carriage, and helped rescue the injured, has testified.” He further added that he received information about the expert examination in Koulouri, “where everything will be investigated in the area where the train wreckage has been moved.”

Regarding the witness, he mentioned that they voluntarily came forward to the Appellate Investigator and “provided important details, having heard and seen situations that I believe will offer useful information, particularly concerning the ignition issue.”

Mr. Psaropoulos also claimed, “From the testimonies, it appears that an order was given for the filling of the area by higher-ranking officials who have been named and referred. Today, for the second time, a service member who was present during the intervention at the accident site will testify.”
