Thessaloniki: 16-year-old boy arrested for drug trafficking in a school yard released

Police officers found him in possession of a backpack containing 40 nylon packets of cannabis - The origin of the €2,000 found in his house is being investigated

Newsroom March 6 05:15

The 16-year-old boy arrested last Sunday afternoon in a schoolyard in Toumba, accused of drug trafficking, has been released.

After his apology before the Thessaloniki interrogator, it was decided to release him, under the restrictive condition of presenting himself twice a month at the police station of his place of residence.

He had been prosecuted for drug trafficking and possession of drugs, with the aggravating circumstance that the act was allegedly committed in a school. According to the indictment, police officers found him in possession of a backpack containing 40 nylon packets of cannabis weighing a total of 136.77 grams, two homemade cigarettes with enriched cannabis, a grinder, a precision scale, and a sum of 395 euros. Two other people were allegedly with him, who managed to escape when they became aware of the presence of the police.

During his apology, the juvenile denied the charge, claiming that the drugs did not belong to him. Specifically, he allegedly claimed that other people gave them to him and that he kept them out of fear.

His 52-year-old mother, who faces a charge of neglect of a minor and was released without the imposition of restraining conditions, was also called to answer for the same case. Meanwhile, authorities proceeded to confiscate the amount of 2,000 euros found in the house where they live, with its origin under investigation.
