Iran has defended its nuclear program and will not hesitate to continue to do so, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghei said today, a day after Israel and the United States pledged to crack down on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

“Iran’s peaceful nuclear program continues and has been for the past three decades based on Iran’s rights as a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty…clearly we will not show weakness in this area,” he said.

Israel and the US are determined to crack down on Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its influence in the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem.

As Rubio said: “Behind every terrorist organization, behind every violent act, behind every destabilizing action, behind everything that threatens peace and stability for millions of people who call this region home, is Iran.“
