Trump freezes all aid to South Africa

US president invokes a discriminatory land expropriation law against white citizens

The US will no longer provide aid to South Africa, US President Donald Trump announced yesterday (Friday), citing a discriminatory land expropriation law against white citizens.

The controversial law “allows the South African government to proceed with the confiscation of rural properties belonging to the Afrikaner ethnic minority without compensation,” Trump criticised in a presidential executive order suspending aid, referring to the white minority.

He also cited South Africa’s December 2023 International Court of Justice (ICJ) case against Israel for genocide.
