According to recent data, a significant decline in container volumes at the port of Piraeus was recorded in 2024, while shipping companies continue to avoid transiting the Suez shipping lane due to attacks by the Houthis in Yemen.

In 2024, container throughput at the three Piraeus port terminals handling containers declined 5.8%, falling from 5.1 million TEUs in 2023 to 4.8 million TEUs in 2024. However, a more detailed picture shows variations.

At Pier I, throughput increased by 10% compared to 2023, reaching 563,000 TEUs.
