“My Home 2” Program: Over 10,000 applications in just a few hours – Mitsotakis’ post

The response underscores how important this initiative is for our society, states – among other things – Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Newsroom January 16 01:47

The submission of applications for participation in the co-financed “My Home 2” program, which provides financing under favorable terms for the acquisition of a first home, began yesterday.

In a social media post, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted – among other things – that over 10,000 applications were submitted within just a few hours.

The Prime Minister’s Post in Detail

“With the ‘My Home’ program, more than 7,500 of our fellow citizens have moved into their new homes, and a total of 9,000 people have already joined the program. I am particularly happy that, with the second phase of the program, we will give even more of our fellow citizens the opportunity to make their dream a reality. Applications for ‘My Home II’ opened yesterday, and already more than 10,000 applications have been submitted on the relevant platform through gov.gr in just a few hours. The response demonstrates how significant this initiative is for our society.

We designed the second phase of the program to be even fairer and more accessible. The age limit has been increased to 50 years, while the income criteria have been adjusted to allow people who may have been excluded in the first phase to participate. This way, 20,000 of our fellow citizens will be able to acquire their own home, with loan installments that are often lower than the rent they would pay for a similar residence.

‘My Home II,’ along with the other interest-free loan program worth €400 million for energy upgrades to residences without income criteria, would not have been possible without the support of the Recovery Fund, which we managed to secure through tough negotiations with the European Commission. And yes, we know that this alone does not definitively solve the multifaceted housing issue. That’s why we have developed a broader framework of policies with more than 40 initiatives totaling over €6.5 billion. However, we are proud that this specific program is already providing relief to thousands of our fellow citizens, helping them realize their dreams. We continue to work tirelessly to provide solutions to citizens’ problems – for a Greece that offers opportunities and cares for the future.”
