Russia: Moscow accuses Kiev of dropping white phosphorus munitions from drones

Zakharova said that Russian law enforcement agencies have evidence of the use of such ammunition by Ukraine last September - Kyiv denied the accusations

Newsroom December 18 10:23

Russia will respond to the European Union’s new package of sanctions, which Moscow considers a risk to global energy security, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today.

The European Union imposed the 15th package of sanctions on Russia the day before yesterday, Monday, which includes tougher measures against Chinese entities and more vessels from Moscow’s so-called shadow fleet.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that Ukraine repeatedly fired white phosphorus munitions from unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in September.

Zaharova said law enforcement agencies have evidence of Ukraine’s use of such munitions, but did not provide details. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine, which has accused Russia of using phosphorus.

Kyiv denied the accusations, stating that Russia is accusing Ukraine of practices it engages in itself.
