Meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People's Congress

Newsroom November 28 03:11

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, at the Maximos Mansion.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed cooperation in key areas such as economy, trade, tourism, culture, and shipping.

Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of keeping open communication channels between the EU and China to address global challenges, including climate change. He highlighted the EU’s strategy of “de-risking,” aimed at ensuring the resilience of supply chains and balancing trade.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for China’s support of Greece’s candidacy for the UN Security Council (2025-2026) and welcomed the steady progress in economic relations, encouraging greater efforts to address trade imbalances.
