Newsroom November 6 05:05

High school seniors from Volos faced health troubles while on a school trip in Rethymno, Crete, with two students taken to the hospital. The incident began when two senior students developed symptoms of a viral infection during their journey to Crete.

Upon arrival on the island, possibly due to close quarters on the bus, six more students showed similar symptoms, according to local news site magnesianews.gr. The students mainly experienced vomiting at night, leading the teachers to suspect food poisoning.

Two students, accompanied by their teachers, were taken to the General Hospital of Rethymno for examination. Doctors determined the students had contracted a viral infection, though none required hospitalization. Necessary tests were conducted, and doctors provided health guidelines.

Meanwhile, six additional students, as well as accompanying teachers and the school principal, also developed symptoms. In total, 14 students reported symptoms, with two of them developing a fever and staying in the hotel to rest.

The remaining students, whose symptoms were mild, expressed a desire to continue with the excursion program. Following safety guidelines, they wore masks and participated in the trip’s activities at a slower pace.
