Everything associated with Michael Schumacher is being sold

The family of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher continues to sell items connected to the multiple world champion

Newsroom October 29 12:24

Since Schumacher’s severe skiing accident in 2013, details regarding his health have remained private. His family has chosen to keep updates on his treatment and progress limited to a close circle, and little information has surfaced over the years. Recent reports indicate that Schumacher continues to receive care at his home in Switzerland under the supervision of specialized doctors and physiotherapists. However, specific details about his current health are undisclosed, with the family asking the media and public to respect their privacy.

Among the latest items being auctioned is Schumacher’s F1 248, the Ferrari race car with which he competed during the 2006 Formula 1 season. This historic piece will be available for auction from November 14 onward, giving wealthy fans worldwide the opportunity to own a part of Schumacher’s and Ferrari’s iconic legacy. The F1 248, a model used by Schumacher in his final attempt at an eighth world title, will be sold by RM Sotheby’s.

The F1 248, bearing chassis number 254, carried Schumacher to five victories that season, marking his last bid for the world championship. Notably, it was in this car that Schumacher surpassed Ayrton Senna’s record for pole positions, just months before announcing his retirement at Monza. This car, the first Ferrari V8 (2.4-liter) model since 1964, delivered a maximum power of 800 horsepower.

The current owner acquired the F1 248 from Ferrari itself in December 2007, and it received Ferrari’s prestigious Classiche Red Book certification in 2008. RM Sotheby’s has yet to disclose the expected price, but potential buyers will have until the auction starts on November 14 to prepare their bids.
