With operation “Eden 2”, Sicilian carabinieri managed to arrest 16 mafiosi, in Palermo and Castelvetrano.  The charges brought against them are: Mafia acts, robbery, blackmail and kidnapping.

According to information so far, these are members of the mafia family of the new Cosa Nostra leader, Matteo Messina Denaro, aged 52, which is Italy’s number 1 wanted man. Among those arrested is a small-scale Italian actor who had played in RAI TV shows, but was “employed” as a robber by the Mafia.

According to Italian media, these robberies, whose loot reaches hundreds of thousands of euro, were useful in allowing Messina Denaro to live in riches.
