Tsipras: The policies that led us to the crisis cannot be the model for a way out

Former president of SYRIZA is expected to hold an open event on Tuesday, with the aim of a "national reconstruction plan"

Newsroom October 22 06:00

“The challenge of the current decade cannot be other than to end our continuous course of divergence from the hard core of EU countries at all levels,” former Prime Minister and President of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, during the thematic event on the economy, that was organized by his Institute in Piraeus.

The divergence, according to reports, concerns the economy, income, the rule of law, the welfare state, and public infrastructure. “Ending the divergence and starting a course of gradual convergence” is, moreover, reportedly the big issue of tomorrow’s conference, according to the former Prime Minister.

However, “there are certainly no easy solutions and answers. But there is another way. Another direction which we must immediately follow,” Tsipras is said to believe, given his statement tomorrow.

“In any case, the way out is known… the policies and especially the causes that led us to the crisis cannot be the model for a way out,” the former prime minister concluded.
