Quentin Tarantino Wants to Try Theater

"If the play is successful, then I will probably turn it into a film," said the famous director

Newsroom August 27 06:30

The renowned director Quentin Tarantino, a guest on Bill Maher’s podcast “Club Random,” revealed that he is interested in directing a stage play. He admitted that he had begun writing something and hinted that he would prefer it to be a comedy.

“Currently, I am more focused on the possibility of writing a comedic play for the theater,” Tarantino said on the podcast. When the host asked, “Why not a movie?” he responded, “If the play is successful, then I might turn it into a film.”

“The allure for the director,” Tarantino continued, especially for a comedy, is that “in a comedic play, the audience is one of the characters… and when it works, it’s a fun experience… which is hard to capture in film.”

Earlier this year, Tarantino was preparing to film “The Movie Critic,” starring Brad Pitt, but Deadline revealed that he had abandoned the project for another production. According to World of Reel, Tarantino rewrote the script for “The Movie Critic,” made a new draft, and then simply changed his mind.
