Foreign Ministry and SEV sign protocol of strategic cooperation

The protocol aims at joining forces between the public and private sectors in an effort to increase Greek exports

Newsroom October 29 12:35

Foreign Ministry General Secretary for International Economic Relations Panagiotis Mihalos and Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) Chief Theodore Fessas signed a protocol of strategic cooperation on Wednesday for the promotion of exports aimed at the promotion of Greek products in new developing markets such as Latin America, East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The protocol aims at strengthening ties between the public and private sectors in areas such as the preparation and information of exporters, selecting the target markets for the Greek products while also providing for the creation of “Business Hubs” as part of efforts to make the best use of the Offices of Economic and Commercial Affairs at embassies to offer information to Greek businesses.

“The first step is the common identification of target markets. Apart from the traditional markets, we will try to increase our exports to Latin America, East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa,” said Mr. Mihalos. “These are new dynamic markets with large penetration margins for Greek products.”

On his part, Mr. Fessas said that the recovery of the Greek economy will come from the increased exports of Greek enterprises. “The evolutionary transformation of the Greek economy to an economy of producing international tradable goods and services requires a plan, joint initiatives and cooperation between the public and private sectors,” said Mr. Fessas. “We must join forces to render the actions of the Greek entrepreneurship more effective. We believe that the political will, as expressed today, can be an important factor in this effort.”
