Kasselakis: I Do Not Have Plans for New Internal Party Elections

What SYRIZA's chairperson said about black money - "Avgi can continue to produce journalistic content, but on the website - I changed the post about Tsipras because the second formulation was more accurate"

Newsroom July 2 08:22

Stefanos Kasselakis, the president of SYRIZA, gave an interview on Alpha’s central news bulletin

When asked about potential black money issues within SYRIZA, Mr. Kasselakis stated that he does not believe there is a problem, but suggested speaking with the previous finance director for confirmation. He also mentioned that Avgi can continue its journalistic work online and called on party officials to support the party’s media efforts.

Nikolas Farantouris expelled from SYRIZA’s EP group after statements about Karystianou’s party – They are asking him to hand over his seat

Regarding whether he felt undermined by Alexis Tsipras and the change he made to his controversial post, Mr. Kasselakis explained that he revised it because he believed the second wording was more accurate. “It is honest to state that the official opposition has the right to lead these negotiations, and this includes Mr. Tsipras. The leader of the official opposition should lead any agreement scheme. If PASOK wishes to cooperate in a parliamentary project, we are open to it.”

Mr. Kasselakis clarified that he does not plan to hold new internal party elections but indicated there will be changes within the party’s structures.

He also commented on Mr. Tsipras’s tenure: “I believe Mr. Tsipras did a good job in government. However, the party I inherited had issues and gaps that needed addressing. The difficult decisions are now in my hands, and I am making them.”
