Stefanos Kasselakis: Now they say he will respond “when he feels ready”

Members of SYRIZA from the president's inner circle are numb - The party's spokesperson admitted that the law has not been respected so far

Newsroom March 13 12:16

Yesterday, SYRIZA’s president, Stefanos Kasselakis, attempted to provide answers regarding his professional activities for the first time – three days after the publication of the protothema.gr article, which triggered a political storm.

Just before his speech yesterday on the “Greek Dream,” in a recorded message, Mr. Kasselakis stated that “SYRIZA has hit the gas pedal. That’s why Mitsotakis of the fake ‘where did you get it from’ is dealing with legal lobster boats, from which I resigned on March 10, 2023. But this wasn’t ‘discovered’ by the Maximou report, only the initial registration of fishing licenses,” commented the SYRIZA president.

However, the existence of “lobster boats”, as he described it himself, was disclosed by Mr. Kasselakis on his own initiative during his television interview on the morning show of ANT1, where he did anything but feel uncomfortable when Giorgos Liagas challenged him about his business activities, which he even knew were located in Massachusetts. Speaking in the present tense, the president of SYRIZA referred to the “lobster boats” as his “work,” while he avoided making detailed statements about his financial assets.

In his version yesterday, however, Mr. Kasselakis stated that he has resigned from the company, but the date of his resignation coincides with the date of his dismissal from the specific company, against which he has filed a lawsuit in court.

At the same time, however, SYRIZA’s spokesperson, Voula Kechagia, in her statements to ERT, admitted that the law “will” be respected, thus acknowledging that this has not happened until today. In response to the question, whether Mr. Kasselakis will respect the law, she replied, “Absolutely. Since the law clearly states that it is a prohibition for any political leader, even an extra-parliamentary one, to have companies abroad, this law will be absolutely respected”.

In the same interview, Mrs. Kechagia admitted that until today Stefanos Kasselakis has not provided answers regarding the lobster boats, and this will happen “when he is ready or when he feels he can say 5-10 things to clarify the situation, to bring everything to light – and this will happen. I’m telling you this with full knowledge of the facts”.
