Oppenheimer wins best film at this year's BAFTA film awards ceremony

Emma Stone won best actress for her lead role in George Lanthimos’ Poor Things.

This year’s film awards were presented at the 77th BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards) ceremony held at London’s Royal Festival Hall in the evening, hosted by David Tennant.

Poor Things won both the award for best make-up and hairstyle, as well as that for best costumes.

The leading actress of Poor Things with director George Lanthimos

Oppenheimer won Best Film at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards ceremony, and won seven awards in total.

The film’s director, Christopher Nolan won the Best Director award after a long wait for a director’s award after several commercial successes for films such as “Inception” and “The Dark Knight”.

A heavy favorite for the British film awards, the British-born director beat out Jonathan Glazer director of ”The Zone of Interest,” Justin Tritt ”Anatomy of a Fall,” Alexander Payne ”Winter Break,” Bradley Cooper (”Maestro”) and Andrew Hague (”Without Ever Knowing Us”).

Meanwhile, Irish actor Cillian Murphy, star of the film Oppenheimer, who plays the American theoretical physicist, won the Bafta in the best actor category for his performance in the film.
