Elections 2023 – Kyriakos Mitsotakis: I expect a clear victory for ND on Sunday night

The last thing the country needs is an unstable government

Newsroom May 19 09:41

“I am optimistic about the outcome of the elections. At the end of the pre-election period when you feel that you have given everything, you know that you are making the last speech and the responsibility passes to the dominant people. We did everything we could to show that they should trust us again. We talked about the future, we did not give in to toxicity despite the incredible attacks we received”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Friday morning.

“I expect a clear victory for New Democracy and we will realize this on election night. I don’t believe there will be a coalition government. The last thing the country needs is an unstable government. I believe that on the night of the elections we will know who will rule the country for the next 4 years”, added the Prime Minister.

As he said “we want a large percentage for the ND not only to send the message that it will take on the burden of governance but to close any scenario for a minority government, a government of tolerance or a government of special purpose”.

“It is the first time that I see there is a proposal for governance and on the opposite side, just chaos”, remarked Kyriakos Mitsotakis who noted that “I am not the one who will decide when second elections will be held if necessary. What we know is the date of the convergence of the new Parliament. If there is no government, the Parliament will be dissolved and there will be announcements”.

Asked to comment on the parallel results collection systems announced by SYRIZA, he said that “I’ve listen to it without paying much attention to it, 19:00′ we will have an exit poll, 21:00′ an estimate of the result. No one will be able to dispute the election result the next day”.
