Medvedev: If Russia loses conventional war in Ukraine it could trigger nuclear conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also stated that the risk of nuclear war is increasing

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said today that if Russia was defeated in the war in Ukraine in conventional war, it could trigger a nuclear war, referring to Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine.

In a Telegram post regarding NATO’s support for the Ukrainian military, Medvedev said: “Nuclear forces have never lost major conflicts on which their fate depends.”

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Medvedev has repeatedly warned that Western involvement in Ukraine could lead to nuclear conflict and has called Ukrainians “cockroaches,” with Kiev responding that such rhetoric is openly genocidal.
