Poll – Greeks concerned about high prices – Phone surveillance case not a priority

The phone tapping scandal that has rocked Greek political life seems to be of secondary importance for the citizens, according to a Marc poll for THEMA.

The margin between ruling New Democracy (32%) and SYRIZA (23.5%) stands at 8.5% while PM Mitsotakis leads on who is more popular with 46.1% and who is more suitable for prime minister with 49.9%.

38% of those polled believe that the government should resign if the phone surveillance scandal is proven illegal.

Citizens’ interest is focused more on the problems of everyday life with 84.2% concerned about the soaring costs and the difficult winter ahead not only in Greece but also internationally. National affairs issues and Turkish provocations worry 36.4% of citizens, while crime and violence are the main concern for 30.2% of respondents. Finally, the developments in the war in Ukraine worry 26.3% of citizens, while only 16% seem to be interested and worried about phone surveillance.
