US Fund reportedly shows interest in buying Napoli FC

Sixth Street is a global investment firm with $50 billion in assets under management

Newsroom March 11 08:04

According to the Italian sports site “Gazzetta dello Sport”, a US-based Fund is interested in buying out Serie A’ football club Napoli FC.

According to reports out of Italy, the American fund called “Sixth Street” is preparing to submit a formal proposal to Aurelio De Laurentiis for the purchase of the club, while there is also a plan for the construction of a new stadium.

The distinguished Italian film producer and owner of the company, “Filmauro”, has collaborated with American directors in the past and somehow a common point of contact has emerged between the two sides.

Sixth Street is a global investment firm with $50 billion in assets under management. The firm operates nine investment platforms across its growth investing, adjacencies, direct lending, fundamental public strategies, infrastructure, special situations, agriculture, and par liquid credit businesses.

The strong man of the Neapolitans will not be easy to negotiate with and he has already clarified that in order to discuss the possibility of selling the club, the proposal would have to reach at least 700 million euros.

In recent years, Napoli has made big “openings”, which have not been covered by a share capital increase or sales, meaning that De Laurentiis will have to find financial solutions next summer.
