T+L: Santorini is heaven on Earth (photos)

Travel Magazine love Santorini

Newsroom March 15 06:38

The Greek island of Santorini is a regular feature on renowned travel magazine “T+L”. It is no surprise really, given its incredible natural beauty. This time the magazine included the majestic island in a piece titled “23 Photos Proving Santorini is Actually Heaven on Earth”.

It’s no surprise Santorini has dotted our World’s Best Award lists year after year. It was voted the World’s Best Island in 2015, and made the list for world’s most romantic destinations.

After all, what’s not to love? Cliffs covered in whitewashed and blue-domed buildings, black and red sand beaches, and a seemingly endless number of infinity pools with views of the cerulean Aegean Sea are just a few of the features making the island the subject of our digital daydreams.
Whether you’ve seen it in person or have it at the top of your bucket list, there’s no denying the beauty of the island. It’s home to some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world and is filled with secrets that will amaze tourists and locals alike.
You might be surprised to know there are actually only three blue rooftops on the Greek isle—the most famous in Oia Town. If you want to capture your own postcard-perfect shot of the iconic view, head down the main street toward the water for a scenic overlook of the caldera like no other.  Want the best view of the sunset? Head to Oia Castle for your own (albeit crowded) heaven on earth.
The best time to visit this popular tourist destination is between April and October when the weather is warm—but not too hot—and there is little rain. The island may be more congested during this time but visiting during the off-season is not recommended, as many of Santorini’s greatest hotels and restaurants close.  If you want to make the most of your trip to Santorini, don’t miss scuba diving off one of the pristine beaches or wine tasting at one of the islands many vineyards.
So whether you’re touring Santorini during its famous Golden Hour or by drone hundreds of feet in the air, the island will capture your heart for a getaway you won’t soon forget. And just in case you need a little more convincing, scroll on for more wanderlust-worthy scenes from coast to coast.
