The biggest and brightest full moon in nearly 70 years has lit up skies across the world.
Stargazers were treated to the spectacular ‘supermoon’ where it appeared 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than usual.
The event, described as “undeniably beautiful” by US space agency Nasa, is the result of the Moon coming closer to Earth than it has done since 1948.
It will not make a similar approach until November 25, 2034.
The ‘supermoon’ was expected to reach the peak of its full phase at 1.52pm UK time, meaning Brits can watch out for it any time tonight.
However, the event can be viewed at its best at around 8.09pm, when it will reach its closes point to Earth – a distance of 356,511km.
