Ukraine: 35,000 households in Odessa are without electricity after a Russian drone attack

The attack hit infrastructure facilities and an apartment building, Mayor Sherhi Lissac said via Telegram

Newsroom January 12 02:54

About 35,000 households have been left without power in the southern Ukrainian region of Odessa following a Russian drone attack, the electricity company DTEK said today, citing severe damage.

“The restoration of power supply will take time,” according to the statement.

In the city of Odessa, the attack hit infrastructure facilities and an apartment building, Mayor Sherhi Lisak said via Telegram. Two people were injured, according to him.

Due to heavy airstrikes in recent days, there is virtually no electricity in the capital Kiev, Dnipro, Odessa, and other cities in Ukraine. As a result, there are problems with heating and water supply. At the same time, freezing conditions prevail, with temperatures at night dropping to minus 18 degrees Celsius. The situation is extremely difficult for millions of people.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it intercepted 135 of 156 Russian drones launched overnight, in a relatively smaller-scale attack compared to those of recent weeks. However, 18 points were hit, according to the Air Force.
