Unprecedented provocation from Zakharova: Russia will respond appropriately to Greece over joint drone production with Ukraine

According to the TASS news agency, Moscow has completed its assessment of the Greece–Ukraine agreement and a corresponding reaction will follow

Newsroom November 20 10:34

Russia will respond to Greece’s decision to jointly produce and use maritime drones with Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a press briefing.

“Greece is pursuing a confrontational policy toward Russia and engaging in openly hostile actions,” Zakharova claimed provocatively. She added:
“Athens was among the first capitals to send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, which the Ukrainian armed forces use daily against civilians in Donbas, the regions of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Crimea and other southern areas of our country. And all this despite the fact that Greeks have lived in these regions since time immemorial.”

According to the statements broadcast by TASS, Zakharova continued:
“Another confirmation was the so-called agreements with the Nazi regime in Kyiv on November 17, including for the development and use of maritime unmanned aerial vehicles.”
She added:
“This step, like many other anti-Russian actions by the collective West aimed at defeating Russia on the battlefield, has been duly assessed by us, and an appropriate response will follow.”

It is recalled that in the joint Mitsotakis–Zelensky statement, following the Ukrainian president’s visit to Athens, it was noted that:
“Both parties agreed to deepen defense cooperation with a focus on strengthening security in the maritime domain, including cooperation in the development and use of maritime unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), conducting joint exercises and trainings related to unmanned maritime systems, as well as enhanced information exchange on maritime threats.”
