Bulgaria: Commission of Inquiry on George Soros

The Bulgarian Parliament's committee entitled "Ad-hoc Committee to examine the activities of George and Alexander Soros and their foundations on the territory of Bulgaria" is expected to start its work soon

Newsroom November 18 01:06

Bulgarian strongman Delian Peevski has always wanted a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the activities of US billionaire George Soros and the Open Society Foundations (OSF) in the country. And although in previous years the necessary majority was not in place, last week it was finally assembled.

The Bulgarian parliament’s committee entitled “Ad-hoc Committee for the examination of the activities of George and Alexander Soros and their foundations on the territory of Bulgaria” is expected to start its work soon, with the aim of finding out which persons and organizations are supported by Soros and his son and which have received money from OSF.

No legal consequences are currently foreseen for those individuals and entities found to be associated with Soros. However, the Bulgarian parliament could adopt measures similar to the Russian “law against foreign agents” of 2012 – such an attempt was already made in February 2025, but without gathering the necessary majority at that time.

In Hungary under Victor Orban, a similar investigation begun for the suspicious activities funded by Soros.

George Soros is being accused of promoting the population replacement in Europe with the promotion of illegal immigration.
