Two injured men sent to prison over deadly clashes in Vorizia — Second man from Kalashnikov video arrested

Two members of the Fragkiadakis family who were injured in the deadly shootout in Vorizia will be sent to prison upon discharge from the hospital: the 25-year-old brother of the 27-year-old owner of the house where the explosion occurred, and a 30-year-old cousin

Newsroom November 6 07:52

The two injured men, currently hospitalized at PAGNI under guard, were ordered held in custody following their testimonies before the Heraklion investigating magistrate. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old man identified as the second person in the Kalashnikov video is also expected to face justice. Police investigations continue, utilizing evidence and witness statements that may lead to additional arrests of others involved in the clash who have not yet been charged. Simultaneously, efforts are ongoing to locate the weapons used in the violent incident.

According to neakriti.gr, the two Fragkiadakis family members—the 25-year-old brother of the house owner and their 30-year-old cousin—were remanded in custody and will be taken to prison once discharged from the hospital where they remain under guard.

The questioning process began late in the afternoon after the magistrate interviewed female family members, including the mother of the four accused brothers and the wife of one of the suspects.

Serious Charges Against Kargakis’s Son-in-Law — The Kalashnikov Video

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old son-in-law of the deceased Fanouris Kargakis was brought before the Heraklion Prosecutor. He was arrested yesterday and charged with intentional homicide.

His arrest occurred under the flagrante delicto rule for illegal weapons possession after video evidence surfaced showing him firing a Kalashnikov toward the site of the bloody incident in Vorizia.

Protothema.gr revealed a critical video that helped solve the bloody attack in Vorizia, which led Greek police to identify the 43-year-old son-in-law of Fanouris Kargakis as the person firing the Kalashnikov. The 56-year-old Evangelia Fragkiadaki was likely killed by his gunfire.

Video Evidence from Vorizia

The footage, recorded on a mobile phone, shows the suspect on a hill near the house where the bomb was placed. At that moment, he fires at least two bursts from the Kalashnikov, discharging more than ten bullets in total.
