Weather: strengthening winds, 48-hour instability ahead

Which areas will be affected by the new bad weather - The forecast of EMY until Saturday

Summer weather has entered September, as the next ten days will roll by with high temperatures. However, starting Wednesday and for a 48-hour period there will be instability with showers and thunderstorms, as well as strengthening northerly winds.

According to ERT meteorologist Panagiotis Giannopoulos on Wednesday, the scene changes slightly, as local thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and midday in mountainous areas of continental Greece and parts of Macedonia. Towards dawn on Thursday, occasional phenomena may affect Central and Northern Macedonia, even near the border with Skopje. From Thursday the weather will stabilise again, with temperatures dropping slightly on the mainland to 30-31°C. Northerly winds in the Aegean remain at 6 Beaufort, bringing coolness. The weekend promises ideal conditions, with sunny and summery weather. In Athens, Tuesday and Wednesday the temperature will reach 35-36°C, locally maybe even 37°C in the warmer continental parts, to return to milder values from Thursday, close to 31-32°C.

The new week and the first month of autumn in our country starts with mild weather, Klearchos Marousakis said in a post. The meteorologist of Open notes that “Wednesday to Friday will see again unstable weather conditions with showers and storms, with winds returning again with fluctuations in their intensity and with emphasis on areas facing the Aegean Sea, while temperatures will be close to 34° to 36° Celsius for most areas.”

 

Today’s weather

Sunshine is expected. Relatively increased dust concentrations in the eastern parts of the country.

The temperature in Western Macedonia will range from 14 to 30 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia, Thrace and Thessaly from 28 to 35, in Epirus from 15 to 31, in Sterea and Peloponnese from 17 to 35, in the Ionian islands from 15 to 31, in the North and East Aegean islands from 20 to 34, in the Cyclades and Dodecanese from 21 to 31 and in Crete from 18 to 33 degrees Celsius.

From 18 to 18-18 degrees Celsius and from 18 to 18.5 degrees Celsius and from 18 to 18.5 degrees Celsius.
Winds in the Central and North Aegean will blow from northwest to north directions from 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the South Aegean Sea the winds will blow from west to north directions 3 to 5 Beaufort and in its eastern parts from northwest directions 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea, the winds will blow from northwestern directions 2 to 4 Beaufort.

In Attica sunshine is expected. Winds will blow from the north 2 to 4 Beaufort. The temperature in the center of Athens will range from 24 to 35 degrees Celsius.

In the prefecture of Thessaloniki sunshine is expected. The winds will blow from the north up to 3 Beaufort, but in the afternoon and evening they will occasionally shift to south to southwest winds of the same intensity. The temperature in the center of Thessaloniki will range from 22 to 32 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Wednesday, September 3

In the Ionian, Epirus, western and central Macedonia and Thessaly thin clouds with local showers in the morning in the Ionian, from midday in Epirus and western Macedonia and gradually in central Macedonia and Thessaly. Sporadic thunderstorms will occur from midday on the mainland. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather with thin clouds, occasionally more dense at noon in the continental highlands, where local rain or isolated thunderstorms will occur.

The winds will blow from the north from 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the sea locally up to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly and will reach 32 to 34 degrees Celsius in most areas and 35 to 36 degrees Celsius locally in the eastern mainland.

The weather on Thursday, September 4

In western and central Macedonia, Epirus and Thessaly, clouds, partly cloudy with local showers and occasional thunderstorms until the afternoon. In the rest of the country a few local clouds, partly increasing in the mainland in the afternoon – afternoon when local rain and mainly in the mountains of western Central Greece and Peloponnese isolated thunderstorms will occur.

The winds will blow from the north from 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the sea locally up to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly.

The weather on Friday, September 5

Generally clear weather with occasional clouds at noon – afternoon in the mainland mainly in the mountains, when local rainfall is likely to occur. Visibility in the morning mainly in the west will be locally limited.

Winds will blow from the north from 3 to 5 Beaufort, and in the Aegean Sea locally up to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.

Generally clear weather with occasional clouds in the afternoon in the mainland, mainly in the mountains.
