Hamas accepted the ceasefire proposal and the agreement on the hostages

Hamas signals agreement on ceasefire and hostage deal

Newsroom July 4 10:23

Hamas has reportedly accepted the ceasefire proposal and the hostage deal proposed by the mediators, although it has requested some minor amendments to the wording, Qatar-based Al Araby channel reported Friday.

The draft agreement was approved earlier this week by Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer during his visit to Washington.

According to the ceasefire draft, seen by Haaretz, eight living hostages will be released on the first day of the truce, with two more to follow on the 50th day.

The plan also outlines the gradual return of the bodies of Israeli hostages: five on the seventh day of the ceasefire, another five on the 30th day, and the final eight on the 60th day.

In total, ten living hostages will be released and the bodies of 18 others will be returned, according to the agreement.

The deal, shaped by Qatar, is based on the so-called Witkoff framework, proposed by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff.
