Record number of applications for DYPA’s 28 nurseries

The care provided for infants and toddlers is free of charge, and selection criteria are based on economic and social factors

Newsroom June 23 12:51

A record 4,386 applications were submitted for enrollment in the 28 nurseries operated by Greece’s Public Employment Service (DYPA) for the 2025-2026 school year — marking a 6% increase compared to last year, according to an official announcement.

DYPA’s own nurseries operate from September 1 through July 31, Monday to Friday, from 06:45 to 16:00, and cater to infants and toddlers from 6 months to 4 years old.

As highlighted in the announcement, a daily program of creative activities is offered to support the children’s educational, emotional, and physical development.

The care provided for infants and toddlers is free of charge, and selection is based on economic and social criteria.

Nurseries in the Attica region: Agia Varvara, Ano Liosia, Elefsina, Keratsini, Menidi, Moschato, Olympic Village, Peristeri, and Chaidari.

Additionally, a new nursery will open this September in a DYPA building in Ilion.

It is noted that the Larissa nursery, which suffered significant damage during storm Daniel, is expected to reopen in early 2026.

In the coming period, provisional lists of selected, alternate, and excluded infants and toddlers will be published, and eligible applicants will have the opportunity to file objections.
