Mitsotakis – Meloni meeting in Rome: focus on defence and migration

Around 15:30 GMT, the joint statements of the two leaders are expected

A private meeting is underway between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at Villa Pampili in Rome.

The meeting will be followed by the plenary session of the Supreme Cooperation Council between Greece and Italy, while the joint statements of the two leaders to the press are expected at around 15:30 local time.

It is recalled that the European Council will put on the table all the major European challenges of the next period, such as competitiveness, defence and security of the EU as well as illegal immigration.

In fact, the Prime Minister is accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis, Defence Nikos Dendias, Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, Development Takis Theodorikako, Rural Development Kosta Tsiaras, Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, Climate Crisis & Civil Protection Giannis Kefalogiannis, as well as the Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantinos Kyranakis and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikos Tsafos.
