Birth and Marital Status certificates are abolished as supporting documents in the public sector

Facilitation for citizens, as the details of the two certificates are obtained electronically and ex officio by the competent authorities

Newsroom April 24 04:06

The submission of birth and family status certificates by citizens as supporting documents in their dealings with the public sector is abolished from today, according to a statement issued by the Ministry , as the details of the two certificates are obtained electronically and ex officio by the relevant departments.

According to the announcement, this is “an important administrative reform, implemented in the framework of the cooperation between the Ministers of Interior, Thodoris Livanios, and Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, and the Deputy Ministers of Interior, Vivi Charalabogiannis and Vassilis Spanakis. In this way, a more friendly and efficient state with less bureaucracy, even digital, is founded, which saves both valuable time and resources for citizens and civil servants.”

Furthermore, it is stressed that the electronic ex officio search of birth and Family Status certificates is implemented in real time and fully automated through the Centre for Interoperability (KED) and gov.gr, utilizing infrastructures that guarantee the speed, reliability, and security of the process.

In each search, the interested party receives a notification (push notification) in his/her digital Gov.gr Wallet, as well as a message in the citizen’s mailbox with the details of the application for which the certificate was searched, the institution, the time, and the official.
