Trump after Mitsotakis’ statements on “win-win” agreement between Europe and the US: I know him, he is a good man, yes, it can be done

The US president commented on Kyriakos Mitsotakis' remarks to Breitbart, where the prime minister spoke of a "win-win" deal between Europe and the US after Trump's tariffs

Greece: The Bridge Between the World’s Largest and Strongest Democracies

“It connects the world’s largest democracy, India, with its strongest, the United States—with Greece, the birthplace of democracy, acting as the bridge between them.”

“With regard to Greece, we have a strategic partnership with the U.S.,” he emphasized. “And when I look at IMEEC, Greece—the cradle of democracy—can serve as the bridge between the largest and the strongest democracies. For both geopolitical and economic reasons, Greece is a key ally of the United States. I’ve worked with President Trump in the past, and I’m ready to work with him again to tackle regional challenges.”

Trump, Breitbart notes, has spoken warmly about the IMEEC initiative, recently calling it “a group of wonderful nations” coming together to “stand up to countries that seek to harm us through trade.” While he didn’t mention China by name, the implication was clear. Trump also stressed that the U.S. can achieve great things on the geopolitical stage through such partnerships—but also that America’s allies, including the EU and India, need to be more fair toward Washington.

“We have a strong team of trading partners,” Trump told Breitbart News in mid-March. “But we can’t allow those partners to treat us poorly. In many cases, we get along better with our enemies than with our friends. Some who aren’t so friendly treat us better than those who are supposed to be allies—like the European Union, which treats us terribly when it comes to trade. The same goes for India. But this group of nations is united against countries that are trying to hurt us economically.”

Mitsotakis’ Migration Policy and Greece’s Economic Recovery

Referring to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Breitbart highlights that after his first election win in 2019, he introduced strict border and immigration controls—policies that went against the prevailing sentiment across much of Europe but aligned closely with Trump’s vision of limiting immigration.

“Greece is on the front lines of migration,” said the Prime Minister. “We have followed a strict but fair immigration policy, and I was among the first to insist on protecting our borders. When we started implementing this policy in 2020, we were the exception in the EU. Now, everyone understands the importance of border protection. It’s not up to smugglers to decide who enters Greece. I am unapologetically tough on border protection and open to legal migration.”

Greece has also seen a strong economic rebound from the crisis that preceded Mitsotakis’ term—largely thanks to his government’s conservative economic policies. As he told Breitbart News, these policies align with Trump’s economic vision, emphasizing tax cuts and deregulation to drive growth.

“We’ve achieved an impressive comeback from the financial crisis by pursuing a strategy of tax and bureaucracy reduction—a pro-investment, liberal economic agenda that supports job creation,” Mitsotakis concluded.
