Meloni calls for U.S. participation in the next Ukraine Summit

The Italian Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with the U.S. to end the war

Newsroom March 27 08:30

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who attended today’s Ukraine Summit in Paris, hopes that an American delegation will be present at the next meeting.

Meloni “stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with the U.S. to end the conflict and expressed hope that an American delegation will participate in the next conference” of approximately 30 countries, according to a statement from her office. However, she reiterated that Italy will not send soldiers “to any potential military force” deployed in Ukraine.

For Meloni, it is also “important” to extend the partial ceasefire to civilian infrastructure, such as schools and hospitals, with the ultimate goal of achieving a “full” ceasefire. In this context, she sees a potential role for the United Nations.
