Weather: Cloudy, local showers & African dust today, Wednesday

Temperature at 26 degrees in places in Crete and the Dodecanese

Clouds that in many parts of Greece will bring showers and even thunderstorms in places are forecast for today (26.3), according to the National Weather Service (EMY), which notes that conditions favor the transport of dust from Africa.

Temperatures remain high in much of the country, in Crete and the Dodecanese even reaching 26 degrees Celsius in places. Winds will be low to moderate, southerly or south-easterly.

In Athens, clouds are expected, at times increased with local rain until midday and again in the evening. The temperature will range from 12 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Similar scene in Thessaloniki, with local showers at times and temperature 11 to 18 degrees Celsius.

The EMY forecast

Increased clouds with local rain at times in the Ionian Sea, the mainland and the northern Aegean. Isolated thunderstorms are likely in the Ionian and Epirus in the morning hours. Some snow will fall in the northwestern mountains. African dust is favoured.

Winds will blow southeast at 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Ionian Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly. It will reach 19 degrees Celsius in the northern mainland, 21 to 23 degrees Celsius in the rest of the regions and 24 to 26 degrees Celsius in some places in northern Crete and the Dodecanese.

The weather on Thursday (27/3)

Increased clouds throughout the country with local rain in the Ionian Sea, the mainland and from the evening hours on the eastern Aegean islands, the Cyclades and Crete. Isolated thunderstorms will occur initially in the northwest and gradually in the northeast in the evening hours.
African dust is favoured in the east and south.

Winds will blow in the west west west northwest 4 to 5 and in the east east east southeast up to 6 and locally in the southeastern Aegean and the Dodecanese locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will reach in most areas 19 to 22 degrees Celsius and locally in the southern mainland, northern Crete and the Dodecanese 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.
