Weather: Spring weekend with temperatures reaching 20°C

The weather this weekend will be spring-like, with temperatures rising to normal levels for the season, while winds will shift to southerlies. However, on March 25th, rain is expected.

According to the Director of the National Meteorological Service (EMY), Theodore Kolydas, “Today, the weather will be typical for the season with normal temperatures, and tomorrow the mercury will rise further as southerly winds prevail. Mild weather but with cloudiness on March 25th, with local rain in the west, central, and northern parts.”

The temperature in Macedonia and Thrace will range from 0 to 17°C, in Thessaly from 3 to 19°C, in Epirus from 3 to 17°C, in Central Greece and the Peloponnese from 1 to 18°C, in the Ionian Islands from 5 to 16°C, in the Northern and Eastern Aegean Islands from 2 to 17°C, in the Cyclades and Dodecanese from 5 to 16°C, and in Crete from 6 to 20°C.

Winds in the Aegean, except for the Dodecanese, will initially blow from northern directions at 2 to 4 Beaufort, but gradually shift to southerlies with the same intensity by noon. In the Dodecanese, winds will blow from northwesterly directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, with gradual weakening. In the Ionian, winds will initially blow from variable directions up to 3 Beaufort, but from noon, they will become southerlies at 3 to 5 Beaufort.

In Attica, scattered clouds are expected, thickening in the afternoon. Winds will initially blow from variable directions at up to 2 Beaufort, but by noon will shift to southerlies at up to 3 Beaufort. Visibility will be locally limited in the morning and towards the end of the day. The temperature in central Athens will range from 8 to 17°C.

In Thessaloniki, scattered clouds are expected. Winds will blow from variable directions at up to 3 Beaufort. Visibility will be locally limited in the morning and towards the end of the day. The temperature in central Thessaloniki will range from 8 to 16°C.

Sunday’s weather (March 23rd)
In the west, central, and northern areas, clouds will increase intermittently with local rain, and in the northwest, possible local storms. In the remaining areas, nearly clear weather with scattered clouds that will thicken by the afternoon.

Winds will blow from southern directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, in the seas at 5 to 6 Beaufort, gradually increasing to 7 by the afternoon, and locally up to 8 Beaufort in the Ionian.

The temperature will rise slightly and will reach 16 to 17°C in the north, 19 to 20°C in the west, and 18 to 19°C in other areas, locally reaching 20 to 21°C in the Dodecanese and Crete.

Monday’s weather (March 24th)
Intermittent clouds will appear across the country. Local rain is expected in the west, central, and northern regions, and the transfer of African dust is favored in the west.

Winds will blow from southern directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally 7 in the Aegean and up to 8 Beaufort in the Ionian.

The temperature will rise further, reaching 19 to 20°C in most areas.

Intermittent increased clouds across the country. Local rain is expected at intervals, mainly in the west, central, and northern areas, with possible localized rain in the Peloponnese and eastern Central Greece during the morning hours. The transfer of African dust is favored in the west.

The temperature will see a slight rise in the minimum values, mainly in the north.
