23 arrests for the antiquities thieves in Northern Greece – They had been identified since September

The members of the Sub-Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime of Northern Greece "combed" at least 30 different places in Thessaloniki, Imathia, Serres, Kozani and other areas of Central Macedonia

The Organized Crime Unit of Northern Greece made 23 arrests and dismantled three criminal organizations of antiquities thieves.

As ERT reported, 14 of the arrested will be brought today to the prosecutor of Thessaloniki and 9 to the prosecutor of Serres.

According to the same information, the police had been targeting the antiquities thieves since last September.

The members of the Sub-Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime of Northern Greece “combed” at least 30 different places in Thessaloniki, Imathia, Serres, Kozani, and other areas of Central Macedonia.

These were “hunters” of coins who detected them with metal detectors, dug to acquire the,m and then illegally made them available for sale.
