Toxicological and histological tests to solve the mystery of Vasilis Kalogirou’s death

The authorities continue to investigate in order to be able to unravel the case of the death of 39-year-old Vassilis Kalogirou who was found dead on a hill in Perachora Tirnavos

Newsroom February 23 08:54

Although investigations are progressing, there is still no clear direction, as all possibilities remain open and are being examined.

Moreover, the testimonies collected so far have not provided crucial assistance to the police.

From the very beginning, it was evident that the toxicological and histological tests would provide the key elements that could not only steer the investigation in the right direction but possibly even solve the mystery surrounding the death of 39-year-old Vasilis Kalogirou.

Laboratory Results on the Way

Yesterday, it was revealed that the toxicology laboratory of the forensic service in Thessaloniki had submitted a request to the Larissa Prosecutor’s Office to verify whether Vasilis Kalogirou had been following any medical treatment in order to expedite the results.

Clearly, something has been found, and it must now be determined whether it was due to prescribed medication.

What Are Toxicological Tests?

Certain substances that enter the human body through ingestion, inhalation, or other means can be detected in various organs. The primary organs and systems that may contain or be affected by these substances include the blood, urine, lungs, liver, fat tissue, and kidneys. The detection of these substances depends on their type, the duration and quantity of exposure, and the time elapsed since ingestion. The results of these tests may be available as early as next week.

Histological examinations are one of the main forensic methods used to determine the cause of death. Specifically, these tests allow forensic experts to analyze body tissues to identify any pathological conditions or damage that may have led to death. These findings will be in the hands of forensic specialists within the next 20 days.

Until then, it is believed that all necessary evidence will have been gathered to provide answers in this mysterious case, as the results of these examinations will complement the findings from the autopsy and the forensic investigation that followed.
