Investigation at Volos hospital after parents’ complaint about burns to infant from serum

The Administrative Inquiry will investigate the conditions of the infant's hospitalization

Newsroom February 13 05:07

An Administrative Inquiry was ordered at Volos Hospital, following the complaint by parents that a four-month-old infant suffered burns from serum.

According to the complaint, the infant was taken to Volos Hospital with bronchitis on January 31 and on February 3 was transferred to Larissa University Hospital. The parents claim that the child suffered burns on his arm from incorrectly placed IV fluids.

According to reports, the baby was diagnosed with limb cellulitis after being admitted to the hospital, a serious infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissues, and it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the university hospital immediately. However, the parents complained that the incorrect placement of the serum caused burns on the child’s arm.
