Hellenic Train claims once again the fatal train in Tempi was not carrying flammable materials

"At the declaration of the customer/carrier, the contents of the sealed containers, as required by national and international regulations for the carriage of goods by rail, have been recorded in detail on the composition sheet"

An announcement detailing the cargo of the fatal train involved in the tragedy in Tempi was issued by Hellenic Train on Thursday morning.

In its statement, the company claims that the 13-car train was carrying:

– In the first three, which were derailed, wide iron lamination products (sheet metal)

    • – The remaining ten, containing containers, were carrying:
    • – Food preparations (4th – 7th wagon)

– Foodstuffs (4th – 7th wagon)

  • – Beers (8th – 9th wagon)
  • – Iron wires (10th – 11th wagon)
  • – Empty containers (12th – 13th wagons)

“According to the records kept by our company and according to the customer/carrier’s statement, the contents of the sealed containers, as required by national and international regulations for the carriage of goods by rail, have been recorded in detail on the composition sheet and have been made available to the authorities,” Hellenic Train concludes in its statement

Hellenic Train’s announcement on Tempi

With a view to the full clarification of the tragedy in Tempi, Hellenic Train reiterates its firm commitment to cooperation, from the very first moment, providing all available data, with absolute transparency and responsibility to all competent authorities.

Concerning the request of the victims’ families and society for the truth, the company continues to actively contribute to the investigation of the case.

The company has already handed over all the required data to the competent authorities and has responded to all relevant inquiries. The issue of the cargo of freight train 63501 has already been clarified in the context of Question 2506/03.03.2023, submitted to the Greek Parliament.

Its composition included 13 wagons, of which:
