More than 376,000 Palestinians returned to northern Gaza in the last 48 hours

Men accounted for half of those displaced, women for a quarter and children for another quarter

Newsroom January 29 09:30

More than 376,000 Palestinians have returned to the northern part of Gaza Strip from Monday morning to midday today, thanks to a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the United Nations.

Men accounted for half of those displaced, women a quarter and children another quarter, OCHA explained, citing data from a working group including several organizations that set up counting points in various parts of this Palestinian territory.

“Pregnant or breastfeeding women, elderly, disabled, chronically ill, people in need of urgent medical assistance or unaccompanied minors are among the main vulnerable groups among those displaced who started this difficult journey on foot,” OCHA said.

Today, aid groups provided health care, food and other humanitarian services to people returning to what’s left of northern #Gaza after over a year in displacement.
